    Tinus Kruger has been working in Western Australia since 2005 as a consulting engineer on various projects from their initial conceptual phases requiring extensive client liaison, geometric road design, pavement design, drainage design and analysis, landfill design, tendering process management, construction supervision and contract management.

     

    As the Principal Engineer and Manager of the Civil group, Tinus undertakes many responsibilities including the technical review of all work produced by the Civil Group, in addition to the engineering design of civil works, and training and developing younger engineers. Tinus’s time at WML in addition to his previous experience in South Africa has given him a very broad spectrum of skills and he has had exposure to most elements of Civil design and analysis.

    Since beginning his career at WML in 2018, Hayden has worked and gained experience as a Geotechnical and Pavements Engineer on a mixture of small and large infrastructure projects. 

    He is experienced at managing geotechnical field investigations which has included managing a combination of drilling, CPT and excavator subcontractors. He is a safety focused Site Manager, ensuring all stakeholders and clients are engaged and all services and site-specific hazards are controlled. Hayden has completed many detailed design reports including deep foundation design (piling), bearing capacity analysis, settlement/consolidation studies and slope stability assessments. 

    In recent years he has gained experience on a mixture of metropolitan and rural pavement design projects and has worked on several large alliance-based projects.

    Simon is the Geotechnical Group Manager and Technical Lead at WML, and has been working as a Geotechnical Design Engineer since 2005. He has practised as a Design Engineer in the UK, California, Africa and throughout WA, before joining WML in 2015. His expertise lies in geotechnical investigation and design for large mining and civil infrastructure projects, highways, ports, land development, residential and commercial projects. Simon’s experience encompasses geotechnical investigation, geotechnical design and design and verification for both regional and metropolitan areas ensuring that all deliverables meet client and regulatory requirements. He manages the geotechnical team at WML and undertakes technical sign off of all geotechnical projects at WML, directing several geotechnical and civil engineers. Simon has vast experience in geotechnical design projects that incorporate soil mechanics and rock mechanics and is a highly competent Design Engineer in both environments.

    Sam is a Geotechnical Engineer with over 16 years of experience in the resource sector, including 5 as an exploration geologist, providing geological, geotechnical and project management services in both principal contractor and consultancy roles within the mining and civil sectors in the Europe, Australia, and Africa.


    Sam’s expertise primarily lies in underground geotechnics and managing large scale drill programs having spent the last 5 years working in deep high stress, seismically active mines in the Goldfields region, and worked on the Lumwana, Dish Mountain and Bisha drill programs in Zambia, Ethiopia, and Eritrea respectively.

Her expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from schematic design through to construction completion, ensuring high-quality outcomes at every stage.

    Jing has extensive experience leading internal design teams and coordinating with external multidisciplinary teams. She excels at managing multiple priorities across diverse projects, maintaining high levels of communication and collaboration both internally and externally. Her ability to foster strong working relationships has consistently earned positive feedback from clients and external partners.

    Tony has been working in the industry of Civil and Local Government Engineering in WA since 1982, and has been working for WML since 2014. Throughout this time he has gained considerable experience in the areas of road construction, road design, management of road maintenance programs, and traffic management in addition to his construction experience which also extends to drainage structures including flood ways and culverts.

     

    Tony also has extensive knowledge of tendering and contracts including preparation of specifications and tenders, tender analysis and award and contract management. Further to this breadth of experience, Tony’s 21 years with Local Government has provided a broad knowledge of Local Government processes. He also has extensive involvement in sourcing and acquittal of grant funding for roads, recreation and community infrastructure projects.

    Ian is a Chartered Principal Civil Engineer with 24 years’ design, asset management, value engineering and project management experience on Local Government, mining, urban and regional road, sustainable energy and land development projects. Ian has a diverse set of skills including detailed design, construction management, asset management, the development of strategic and future complex capital workstreams, value engineering and procurement and management of commercial contracts for key Australian and overseas clients. Ian’s experience extends to the management of pre-feasibility and feasibility (Order of Magnitude) studies and forward works initiatives in mass earthworks, civil, structural, airfield and drainage projects. He has recent Civil Lead / Design / Contract Management experience in ITS designs and BESS energy infrastructure projects from concept to construction. Ian has extensive site-based experiences including Surveillance, Supervision and independent certification and is experienced in ISO QM / QA legislation and actively drives internal risk management and safety in design mitigation processes. Ian is an excellent communicator and team worker with an infectious work ethic.

    Albert Hoffmann is a Senior Civil Engineer and Project Management Professional (PMP) with more than 20 years of experience delivering civil infrastructure, land development, mining, and water-related projects across Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Mozambique.

    At WML, Albert is involved in the delivery of land development and civil infrastructure projects, providing expertise in project management, design coordination, infrastructure planning, and construction support. His experience covers the full project lifecycle, from concept development and feasibility through to detailed design, procurement, construction, and stakeholder management. He has worked across a broad range of projects including subdivisions, bulk earthworks, roads, stormwater, water supply, wastewater infrastructure, and associated civil works.

    Albert also has significant experience in mining and resources sector capital investment projects in South Africa and Mozambique, where he contributed to the planning and delivery of large-scale infrastructure and industrial developments. His background includes multidisciplinary project coordination, contractor management, construction supervision, and the successful delivery of complex infrastructure within challenging operational environments.

    In addition to his land development and infrastructure experience, Albert has strong expertise in water conservation and demand management. He played a key role in the implementation of a smart pressure management system for Horowhenua District Council in New Zealand, which achieved a reduction in water demand of approximately 2 megalitres per day.

    Albert is recognised for his practical problem-solving approach, strong technical capability, and ability to manage projects and stakeholders effectively to achieve successful project outcomes.

    Arno has extensive experience in contract administration and negotiation within local government, tender preparation, and contract law.     Adam has over 25 years experience as a design draftsperson. Since starting his employment with WML in 1997, he has been involved in the design and drafting of a wide range of projects including structures, roads, earthworks and dams. Adam was the first draftsperson to be employed by WML consultants, and remains one of the longest standing and most competent employees within the company.

    Since joining WML in May 2015, Greg has had exposure to a variety of projects requiring geotechnical and civil engineering input into the design of earthworks, roads and light industrial structures, working within the South West of Western Australia. He has carried out numerous ground investigations in the Quaternary soils forming the Swan Coastal Plain, including investigations with subsequent design for pavements and foundations as well as inspections and testing of earthworks and retaining walls during construction. In addition, Greg also has experience in design and supervision of sealing works in light and heavy vehicle applications.

    Jean is a Chartered Professional Engineer with extensive experience in the civil construction industry as a project manager and project engineer on various projects. These range from subdivisions, road widenings and realignments for Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) to the construction of various Water Corporation Tier One projects that included water, gravity sewer, vacuum sewer and sewer pressure mains.

     

    He joined WML in November 2017 where he progressed his career as a Civil Design Engineer, and has been involved in other consulting works including freeway planning and road decongestion strategy concepts. “Every day has a new challenge and it is fulfilling to find solutions to those challenges. It is satisfying to see new infrastructure and to know you were a part of the design.”

Since joining WML in 2014, Eugene has been involved in the preparation of concept, preliminary design, and detailed design drawings for a wide variety of civil projects.

Patrick’s experience is largely in the South West Region and his interest in the field of civil design is demonstrated by his experience with presentation and planning focus documents, design and drafting of a wide range of projects. These include roads, at-grade intersections (including roundabouts), earthworks, dams, drainage and generation of quantities for cost estimation for a variety of government and private clients.

    With over 15 years as a Civil Engineer, Naoki has extensive experience in civil, road and drainage design, including civil, road and drainage modelling, drafting and construction. His strongest skills involve computer software packages, he has learnt a variety including AutoCAD, Microstation, 12D, CivilCAD, DRAINS, AutoTrack, AutoTurn and more. Naoki’s fast learning ability makes him a valuable member of the Civil team, especially when a new software needs to be utilised in order to complete a project.

    Charmaine has gained extensive experience as a drafter since she began her career in 1984. She commenced with Consulting Engineers in South Africa assisting in a diverse range of projects, including Roadways, Drainage, Pavement Markings, Signage, and many forms of Building services. Charmaine then established her own Drafting Office which allowed her to broaden her experience both in drafting and project leading. Since arriving in Australia in 2011, Charmaine has applied her efficiency and experience as a Senior Lead Drafter/Cad Manager in numerous Road and Rail Infrastructure Projects.

    With over 4 years as a Civil and Project Engineer, Billy has significant experience in performing project management. He has worked on various land development projects including Dunsborough Lakes, Leeuwin Village, Cape Rise, Eaton Fair Expansion Project and Millbridge (amongst others). His responsibilities in regards to Site Supervision include managing the construction process, site management and administration. Billy is an integral part of the Civil and Subdivisions team.

    Since joining WML in 2020, Craig has been involved in a number of high profile projects, including the Bunbury Outer Ring Road. - Major Roads and Highways Drafting - AutoCAD Drafting Craig has been working as a Civil Drafter since 1989, and has worked on a wide range of projects involving roads, water, sewer and drainage pipelines. Craig’s skills involve proficiency in the use of AutoCAD (Drafting Package), Micro Station (Drafting Package), knowledge of 12D Model (3D Surface Modelling Package), Water Corporation Data Management System AquaDraw and is familiar with Austroad, MRWA and Water Corporation Standards.

    Most of my work has been drainage related, but I have worked across the civil, drainage, and subdivision teams for multiple jobs.


    Work is split between design, drafting, and reporting with fairly equal spread.
    I have experience with proposals, fee summaries, quantities, and OPC's.
    I have experience in both short and long for drainage and design reports (tech memos, LWMR, UWMR, etc.)

    Andy McDonald

    Andy has over 20 years of experience in the civil and building construction industry. Most of the experience was gained while working in the capacity of site foreman and contracts manager on various contracts, many of which were of a highly complex nature.
    Following a spinal injury sustained in 2003, Andy has redirected his career through training in AutoCAD where he has been able to capitalize on prior experience and apply this knowledge to the new role.
    Andy has been with WML for 10 years and his skills include proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, a thorough knowledge of various Road design related Standards, understanding of Main Roads WA design criteria, and experience with numerous client specific drafting standards.

    Paul has more than 40 years of professional engineering experience. His initial experience was gained in a 20-year career with Main Roads Western Australia. During that period projects were undertaken relating to road construction and design, geotechnical and pavement investigation (for new and existing works), pavement management and contract development (long term outcome-based contracts).

     

    The projects were undertaken in regional Western Australia and the Perth Metropolitan area. Paul has provided pavement, surfacings and geotechnical design and design verification services for major metropolitan and regional Main Roads projects.

    Raphael Hyde has been working as a Geotechnical Engineer since 2008, with consultancy and detailed design experience on projects in Australia and Canada, focusing on infrastructure development. Raphael’s key areas of experience are in performing and managing field investigations, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls and slope stability analysis.

     

    Raphael has been involved in many large metropolitan infrastructure projects including detailed design of the Stephenson Ave Bridges requiring deep piles in complex ground conditions. He has also undertaken the temporary works design for this project. Raphael has also undertaken geotechnical investigations and detailed design for numerous bridge replacements across rural WA.

    Throughout his career, Alex has had exposure to a variety of projects requiring geotechnical and structural engineering input. His experience encompasses the investigation, design and verification for bridge and highway projects, rail, main and local government roads, mining and port sectors and numerous residential and commercial developments, across Australia. He has been involved with expanding the OHS policies and frameworks for fieldwork, training of colleagues and developing systems, business tools and templates.


    He has also led and undertaken numerous ground investigations using sampling and data collection techniques from hand-augers to EFCPT’s to push probe / rotary borehole drilling. These investigations have led to providing analysis, advice and design in soil remediation, slope stability, retaining walls, foundations, piles, acid sulphate soils, effluent disposal and pavements. He is familiar with software such as Slope/W, SLIDE, Plaxis 2-D, Settle3D and gINT Logs.


    Alex has undertaken and assisted in the detailed design of steel-framed structures, reinforced and concrete retaining walls, timber-framed structures as well as the investigation and remediation of dilapidated structures and elements. This has also led to frequent construction site roles involving the inspection and certification of foundation reinforcement, steelwork erection and retaining walls.     Pierce is a senior quality assurance and a Geotechnical Engineer. He joined WML after completing his MPE (Civil) in 2020, and has undertaken geotechnical design, analysis, and fieldwork along with short to long-term QA supervision exclusively since the beginning of his career.

     

    As a Geotechnical Engineer, he has developed skills for managing and supervising CQA projects and inspections of natural ground materials and liner systems (GCL, HDPE etc.). He enjoys working for WML because it provides the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of different projects whilst being involved in all areas of a project; from proposal phase and conducting fieldwork to analysis and submission.

    At WML, Albert is involved in the delivery of land development and civil infrastructure projects, providing expertise in project management, design coordination, infrastructure planning, and construction support. His experience covers the full project lifecycle, from concept development and feasibility through to detailed design, procurement, construction, and stakeholder management. He has worked across a broad range of projects including subdivisions, bulk earthworks, roads, stormwater, water supply, wastewater infrastructure, and associated civil works.


    Albert also has significant experience in mining and resources sector capital investment projects in South Africa and Mozambique, where he contributed to the planning and delivery of large-scale infrastructure and industrial developments. His background includes multidisciplinary project coordination, contractor management, construction supervision, and the successful delivery of complex infrastructure within challenging operational environments.


    In addition to his land development and infrastructure experience, Albert has strong expertise in water conservation and demand management. He played a key role in the implementation of a smart pressure management system for Horowhenua District Council in New Zealand, which achieved a reduction in water demand of approximately 2 megalitres per day.

    Tom is widely considered the state’s leading expert in pavement sealed design. Tom has over 50 years’ experience as an Engineering Technologist providing mainly geotechnical advice and technical support on numerous road projects throughout Western Australia.

     

    Prior to joining WML, he was employed by Main Roads Western Australia for a period of 35 years where his services focused on the delivery of pavement, bituminous and geotechnical engineering services. He held the position of Regional Materials Manager in the South West Region and the Pilbara Region between 1970 and 1994.

     

    Because of his vast knowledge of pavements, pavement life and surfacing treatments he held the position of Program Coordinator between 1994 and 1999 and was responsible for road asset management and programming. Tom’s engineering expertise is recognised by the Institution of Engineers (Aust) and was invited to join as an Associate Member in 1997. He is also a NATA Assessor (mechanical testing).

He has a wide experience of structural design of new and existing structures including industrial, mining, commercial, institutional and domestic. Stephen has led design teams for the structural design of new schools, mine sites, process facilities, bridges and a wide variety of structures, in addition to his experience in concrete repair, strengthening, renovation and remedial works to structures of all types and ages including Heritage-listed structures. 

    As the manager of the structures group he has day-to-day involvement in all structural projects and carefully monitors progress and quality in the Perth, Bunbury and Kalgoorlie offices. In addition to these responsibilities, as CEO Stephen coordinates the operational and strategic aspects of the company.

Jonathan’s experience covers a wide variety of projects ranging from green and brown field developments and multi-storey buildings to tunnelling works for the London underground and mining shafts for various sites throughout Europe and Canada.

     

    Jonathan has an established knowledge at taking projects from their initial quote through concept stage and design development, issue of final construction stage drawings, to site inspection and engineering support for the contractor. He has experience in commercial, industrial and domestic buildings, encompassing both new design work and the extension and/or modification of existing structures.

Rodgie’s 2D and 3D drafting proficiency is essential in effectively conveying his designs and ideas to end-users, ensuring efficient communication and comprehension.
